In my previous blog “What to expect when you’re expecting and some Tips and Tricks during Pregnancy!” I discussed some tips regarding pregnancy and that by how some small hacks you can achieve a better and comfortable pregnancy.
So, moving forward with the same idea I am going to discuss about things that should be kept in mind in your third and final trimester. Along with the important preparations that will prove beneficial for your final moment. So, let’s start.
Most Common
In the third trimester, most women can face swollen feet which can be achy and can cause pressure on feet as well. So, for that it is best to keep a pillow under your feet while lying in bed or even when you are sitting. It’s better to lift your feet on something a little high e.g a stool, table or a chair etc, because hanging feet can cause more swelling. Another useful tip is to dip your feet in hot water tub to reduce swelling and this can also help you get relaxed.
As the time gets closer, the weight of the baby increases, sometimes causing pain in the abdominal area along with a feeling of extreme pressure. So, for that heat pack covered in a towel can be used to reduce this tense situation (Note: The heat pack should never be too hot and never to be used directly on bare skin).
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a very common thing that may occur during pregnancy and passes after delivery. It’s a condition in which numbness and feeling like pricking of pins and needles can be felt in hands. So for this, light massages can be done on hands along with specially designed CTS bands which are easily available at pharmacies.
Preparations for the final day
You must make all the preparations before hand because you never know when your final call is, and in case you need to rush to the hospital because bubs can arrive before their EDD (Estimated Delivery Date). So yeah, better be prepared so that you don’t have to collect your stuff while you’re getting ready for the bigger task…LOL.
The Essentials
Following are some of the things that you need to have before hopping up the hospital bed and it’s better to buy stuff in your second trimester because that’s the most comfortable time in the entire span of pregnancy.
- Cot or Crib.
- Car seat (otherwise you won’t be able to take the baby from the hospital or depending upon the laws of your country).
- Stroller.
- Feeding bottles and a sterilizer.
- Baby bag.
- Diapers and wipes.
- Nappy rash creams.
- Comfortable and soft clothes according to the weather and always use front open shirts for the baby for at least 2-3 weeks so that the clip on baby’s belly doesn’t get tangled.
- Baby swaddle.
- Bath essentials.
- Bibs,mittens,caps and socks.
- A digital thermometer.
Note: A baby bag containing baby’s essentials must be made beforehand for the hospital stay e.g some comfy clothes, wipes and diapers etc.
Like the baby bag, mums must also make their bag for their hospital stay and the essentials are as follows:
- Maternity dresses or comfortable pyjama suits.
- Sanitary essentials.
- Towels.
- Some self care products to stay fresh at all times.
- Medical records.
Food
Another very important tip is to buy some ready to eat food or freeze some amount of your daily food in small airtight containers for later use specially when you have no one for help with you, it proves really beneficial and is a life saver because it’s really hard to work in kitchen right after delivery when you’re recovering and recollecting your lost energy.
So that’s all for now. Hope these tiny little hacks make some difference in your life.
See you soon…till then enjoy to the fullest..☺
